Module Overview

This module covers the basic concepts of energy modelling methodology using energy modelling software. It will help you to understand how various building design strategies help to reduce the building’s energy consumption. Submission requirements for the “Green Mark” certification for both passive and active building design, as well as an evaluation and analysis of a building’s performance, will also be covered.

Project Overview

ree

For TBP project, each group needs to evaluate the energy performance of your respective BIMCO project building design (Proposed Model) as well as recommend design improvement (Improved Model) to further enhance the energy performance of the building. Determine Energy savings of the improved model and aim for Green Mark certification for this building

Requirements:

Complete this project in a group of 2 students.  Select one BIMCO project from either of your group members.

Ensure your project is not repeated more than twice in the same class.  Using IES software, you are required to perform the following tasks:

To determine the monthly and annual energy consumption for the Proposed Model.

To determine the monthly and annual energy consumption for the Reference Model.

To determine the existing Green Mark rating of the Proposed Model.

To recommend and evaluate design options for optimization of the Proposed Model to improve the energy performance (Improved Model)

Determine the achievable Green Mark rating of the Improved Model.
