Tropical Architecture Project

When i started the project, I was really confused on what to do or the procedures of improving the house. All the different small activities in class helped me to understand more about what I was suppose to do and how i was suppose to start . After researching about the different religions and cultures in Mekong Delta, I understood more about their way of living which was through fishing, rice farming and trading on the waters. When I first saw our assignment about improving the S-house I was wondering how nice they were to help people from 3rd world countries to help them get better living areas. I wanted to make the house comfortable while still having the old aspects of their traditional house. So I decided on the loft, the stilts bottom area and the veranda. The loft being a separation for the genders , the stilts being an old aspect of the house , the bottom area being an extra space for them to keep their items and poultry and the porch being an extra area for them to hang out. When I was designing the 3D model of the house, i had to think a lot about the layout of the furniture, how the house would function and the overall looks . It was really interesting how everything can be together and how we work on it as a group. I learned a lot about the different types of materials and the different construction types.
