This subject covers the theory of passive building design and use of modeling and simulation tools for analysis. It introduces the concept of passive building design for cooling and natural ventilation. Using modeling tools, the students will be able to propose building with increase energy efficiency.

Project Brief

The main idea was to firstly simulate the different simulations for a building as a group. After simulating, we have to individual think of ideas to improve on the building, then we had to implement the new changes to the building and see how much it has improved the building overall.

Learning Experience

For this project i found it hard to think of implementations to alter the building. I have learnt many things like shadow and solar simulation, ETTV calculations and Wind flow simulation. This project has definitely helped me in understanding the different conditions that helps make a building better. From different shading devices to altering the shape to allow better airflow in the building.
